Here we see CSX Q602-13, a mixed freight, headed through downtown Mobile with a UP GEVO as the mid-train DPU. Today’s Q602 had all UP power, since CSX made a power deal with UP. They will trade off power in New Orleans, and the reason for this is because CSX has sold so many locomotives that they are having to ask to borrow others, and even taking old engines (like C40-8Ws) out of storage! For us as railfans, this is an amazing opportunity to see the locomotives not common around here on CSX. |
